Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes, has been named the Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Year after an exceptional 2025/26 campaign.
The Portugal international claimed the prestigious individual award after producing a record-breaking season in the Premier League, where he provided 21 assists.
His tally surpassed the previous record jointly held by Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry.
Fernandes beat competition from a strong six-man shortlist featuring Erling Haaland, Rayan Cherki, Gabriel Magalhaes, David Raya and Declan Rice to secure the honour.
The award holds special significance because the winner is selected by fellow professional footballers, making Fernandes’ recognition a major endorsement of his performances throughout the season.
Reacting to the achievement, Fernandes expressed his pride at being recognised by his fellow players.
“It was a special season, individual for me. And obviously, I’m very proud that all the ones that have decided to help me,” he said.
