Mac Allister’s father denies Real Madrid talks, says Liverpool stay remains plan

Alexis Mac Allister is expected to remain at Liverpool despite fresh speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid, as his father and agent, Carlos Mac Allister, has dismissed reports suggesting discussions over a transfer.

Reports from Spanish outlet Defensa Central claimed earlier this week that the Argentina international was ready to end his spell in England and that his representatives had offered him to the Spanish giants.

The report also alleged Liverpool would demand around €100 million (£85.3 million) for the midfielder.
However, Carlos Mac Allister has rejected the claims, insisting there have been no discussions with the La Liga club.

“We have not spoken with any official at Real Madrid,” Mac Allister Sr. insisted.

“What is being circulated about us holding talks with Real Madrid is not true.”

“Alexis is still under contract for two seasons with Liverpool, and currently he will get some rest for a few days and then return to play in the Premier League.

“That is the current situation.”

Mac Allister is currently on a break following Argentina’s run to the World Cup final on Sunday and is not expected to report for Liverpool’s pre-season until at least August 10.

Upon his return, he will begin preparations under new head coach Andoni Iraola alongside his teammates, including new arrivals Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz.

Liverpool have yet to reinforce their midfield this summer, and although there are no immediate plans to offer Mac Allister a new contract, he remains one of the club’s leading options in the middle of the park ahead of the new season.

The midfielder still has two years remaining on his current deal, while teammates Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch have recently secured long-term contract extensions.

Despite ongoing speculation, Carlos Mac Allister has consistently maintained that there have been no talks over a transfer, indicating that the Argentina international is expected to continue at Anfield for at least another campaign.

Real Madrid recently denied reports linking them with Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, although speculation over their long-term interest in the Argentine has persisted.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have been linked with several midfield targets, including Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton and Bournemouth’s Alex Scott, but Mac Allister’s impressive World Cup performances and the arrival of a new manager could further strengthen his importance to the Reds.
