Toulouse unleashed a storm at home, crushing Metz 4–0 in a dazzling Ligue 1 performance at the Stadium de Toulouse.
On a perfect night for Les Violets, Carles Martínez’s side dominated from the opening whistle, scoring twice in the first seven minutes before Metz collapsed completely following a first-half red card.
The return of Ligue 1 after the international break turned into a spectacle for the home fans. Toulouse wasted no time asserting control, Frank Magri pounced on a defensive blunder to fire home the opener inside two minutes.
Just five minutes later, Magri was brought down in the box, and Aron Dønnum made no mistake from the penalty spot to double the lead.
From there, Toulouse dictated every moment of the match. The hosts pressed relentlessly, recovered balls high up the pitch, and moved the ball with confidence. Metz, meanwhile, looked disorganized and sluggish, unable to match the pace or precision of Martínez’s men.
Things went from bad to worse for the visitors before halftime. Sadibou Sané endured a nightmare outing, picking up multiple fouls before receiving a straight red card for a reckless challenge on Cásseres Jr. in first-half stoppage time.
By then, Metz had barely registered a meaningful attempt on goal, and their frustrations were growing visibly.
With Toulouse two goals and one man up, the second half was little more than a showcase of their dominance. Substitutions added energy, and the hosts capped off the rout in style.
In the 79th minute, Yann Gboho smashed home a stunning volley to make it 3–0, before Charlie Cresswell sealed the victory five minutes later with a well-placed header from a corner.
The final whistle confirmed a 4–0 triumph, Toulouse’s most convincing win of the season and a statement of intent from a side now showing true ambition under Martínez.
For Metz, however, the nightmare continues: still without a league win, struggling defensively, and heading into a tough clash with Lille under immense pressure.
Toulouse, on the other hand, travel next with confidence soaring and their supporters believing that Les Violets’ bright new era is only just beginning.
