Ligue 1: PSG edge Nice 1-0

Paris Saint-Germain appeared destined to drop more points in Ligue 1 on Saturday, but Goncalo Ramos had the final say.

The substitute striker delivered a dramatic 94th-minute winner to secure a 1-0 triumph over Nice at Parc des Princes. Up until that moment, Luis Enrique’s side had struggled to break down a resilient opposition.

With second-placed Monaco facing Paris FC later in the day, PSG’s last-gasp strike ensured they would remain at the top of the table regardless of other results.

Nice, who had previously won their last two visits to Parc des Princes, came close to taking the lead in the 33rd minute when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia cleared Juma Bah’s effort off the line.

PSG grew into the game after the interval. Vitinha’s powerful long-range attempt was superbly saved by goalkeeper Yehvann Diouf, while Ramos, introduced with 18 minutes to go, saw a shot go narrowly wide.

It seemed that PSG might drop points again after drawing three of their last four Ligue 1 matches. Yet Ramos proved decisive, nodding home from close range following Kvaratskhelia’s assist off Lee Kang-in’s corner.

The victory extended PSG’s unbeaten streak in November Ligue 1 fixtures to 13 matches, dating back to 2020. Their last home defeat in the month occurred eight years ago.

Ramos’ stoppage-time winner was reminiscent of Lionel Messi’s late strike against Lille in February 2023, coming just seconds earlier than Messi’s famous 94th-minute goal.

Ramos now has 18 goals for PSG this season in all competitions, equaling Cristhian Stuani’s record for most goals as a substitute across Europe’s top five leagues.

Despite having won their previous three league matches, Nice came up short and were denied a valuable point. The side has now failed to keep a clean sheet in 18 consecutive away games across all competitions.

Their nine defeats in the first 16 matches mark their worst start to a season since 2006–07.
