Ligue 1: Omobamidele’s goal hands Strasbourg 3-2 win over Lorient

Strasbourg produced a dramatic late comeback to beat Lorient 3–2 in a chaotic Ligue 1 clash decided deep into stoppage time.

Lorient took the lead in the 26th minute when Noah Cadiou finished from close range after Panos Katseris’ corner.

They doubled their advantage in the 54th minute as Pablo Pagis calmly converted from the penalty spot.

Strasbourg responded in the 62nd minute through Sebastian Nanasi, setting up a tense finish as the hosts gradually took control with 61.2% possession and sustained attacking pressure.

The turning point came in stoppage time. An own goal in the second minute of added time brought Strasbourg level before Andrew Abiola Omobamidele completed the comeback in the ninth minute of stoppage time, sparking wild celebrations.

Omobamidele, introduced from the bench, was later named Player of the Match after scoring the winner and completing 25 of 26 passes, helping steady Strasbourg in the closing stages.

Fellow substitute Diego Moreira also made an impact, completing 18 of 22 passes.

Set pieces played a decisive role throughout, with Lorient’s opener coming from a corner and Strasbourg’s winner emerging from a late dead-ball situation.

Despite Lorient dominating aerial duels with 91.7% success, they collapsed late on to leave empty-handed.

Strasbourg now turn their attention to a UEFA Conference League trip to Rayo Vallecano, while Lorient face a tough away fixture at Paris Saint-Germain.
