American striker, Folarin Balogun continued his rich vein of form on Saturday, finding the net as AS Monaco secured a 2-0 victory over Angers SCO in Ligue 1 action.
Balogun broke the deadlock 12 minutes after the restart, registering his fourth goal in seven appearances.
The effort came in fortunate fashion, as his header from a well-delivered cross ricocheted off a defender, struck him again, and trickled over the line.
Monaco maintained control of proceedings and put the result beyond doubt five minutes later. Simon Adingra unleashed a powerful curling strike from outside the penalty area to double the advantage, sealing a third consecutive league win for the principality side.
The result lifted Monaco to seventh place, while Angers remained 12th, eight points adrift.
Elsewhere, Stade Rennais FC edged Toulouse FC 1-0 thanks to a decisive header from Arnaud Nordin.
The winger, who returned to Ligue 1 on loan from 1. FSV Mainz 05 in January, struck in the 27th minute — rising above defender Charlie Cresswell to nod home his first goal for Rennes.
Nordin, formerly of AS Saint-Etienne and Montpellier HSC, now boasts over 200 appearances in the French top flight.
His goal handed Rennes a third straight victory, drawing them level on points with fourth-placed Olympique de Marseille, who were set to host Olympique Lyonnais on Sunday.
