The newly elected Assistant Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, Yesiro Karamo, has died just hours before his planned inauguration.
Karamo was among the state executive members led by the Lagos APC Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, who were elected by consensus during the party’s state congress held on Tuesday at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium in Onikan, Lagos.
His inauguration alongside other members of the state executive council had been scheduled to take place on Thursday at the Lagos APC Secretariat.
The Lagos State chapter of the party confirmed the development in a statement issued on Thursday by its Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo.
“The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress received with profound shock and deep sorrow the news of the sudden demise of our newly elected Assistant Publicity Secretary, Karamo Yesiro,” Oladejo said.
He described the death as a painful loss to the party, noting that the late party chieftain had shown strong dedication and commitment to progressive politics.
“
Yesiro’s passing is a painful and tragic loss to our great party at a time when his energy, commitment and passion for progressive politics were most needed,” the statement read.
Oladejo added that Karamo had recently been entrusted with the responsibility of serving in the state executive council and had demonstrated loyalty and belief in the party’s ideals.
“Having just been entrusted with the responsibility of serving in the State Executive Council, he embodied dedication, loyalty and an unwavering belief in the ideals of our party,” he said.
The party further noted that Karamo played a role in strengthening the APC structure in Lagos State before his sudden death.
“Though his tenure was tragically cut short, his enthusiasm, humility and readiness to serve left a lasting impression on colleagues and members alike,” Oladejo said.
He added, “He was a vibrant party man whose contributions to the growth and stability of the APC in Lagos State will not be forgotten.”
The Lagos APC also expressed condolences over the loss and described the late party official as a committed member whose service would be remembered.
“The Lagos APC stands united in mourning this painful departure. Hon. Karamo Yesiro will be remembered for his service, commitment and belief in the progressive cause,” the statement added.
