La Liga side Valencia CF produced a dramatic comeback to defeat Deportivo Alavés 3–2 at the Mestalla in Round 27, overturning an early deficit to secure a crucial victory and climb to 12th place on 32 points.
The visitors made a dream start to the encounter, silencing the home crowd just three minutes into the match.
Alavés striker Lucas Boyé calmly converted from the penalty spot after the referee pointed to the spot, giving the away side an early advantage and putting immediate pressure on Valencia.
Valencia pushed hard for an equaliser throughout the first half but had to wait until shortly after the restart to find it.
Midfielder Javi Guerra restored parity in the 47th minute with a well-taken finish, sparking renewed energy among the Mestalla faithful and shifting momentum in favour of the hosts.
Despite Valencia’s growing control of the game, Alavés struck again in the latter stages.
Boyé proved to be the visitors’ standout performer, scoring his second goal of the night in the 72nd minute to restore his side’s lead and put them on course for what looked like an important away victory.
However, the drama was far from over. As the match entered its closing moments, Valencia refused to give up and launched wave after wave of attacks.
Their persistence finally paid off in the 90th minute when defender Eray Cömert rose to the occasion to score the equaliser, igniting wild celebrations inside the stadium.
The late turnaround secured a valuable three points for Valencia, lifting them to 12th place in the standings with 32 points.
Meanwhile, Alavés remain in 16th position with 27 points, leaving them still looking over their shoulders as the relegation battle in La Liga continues to intensify.
