Fuji music star King, Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, attracted attention after he prostrated before former President Olusegun Obasanjo during the 60th birthday celebration of the Olota of Ota, Oba Professor Abdulkabir Adewale Obalanlege.
The celebration, held on Thursday, brought together dignitaries and traditional leaders to honour the monarch on his 60th birthday.
A video shared on Instagram by @k1deultimatedigitalmedia showed Obasanjo joining K1 on stage while the Fuji musician was performing.
As the former president approached, K1 paused his performance and went down fully in a traditional Yoruba prostration to show respect to the elder statesman.
Obasanjo acknowledged the gesture by patting K1 on the back before taking the microphone and addressing guests at the event. He also greeted and paid tribute to the celebrant, the Olota of Ota.
The encounter quickly attracted attention online, with many social media users praising the display of Yoruba cultural values and respect for elders.
Reacting to the video on X, #opueh001 wrote, “I am proud to be Yoruba,” adding that if he were to be reborn, he would come as a Yoruba indigene.
