The Kano State Government has approved the promotion of 16,634 teaching and non-teaching staff across all 44 local government areas, the State Universal Basic Education Board announced on Wednesday.
The Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Yusuf Kabir, disclosed the approval while addressing issues related to staff promotion within the board. According to him, the promotions cover staff whose review periods fall between July 2024 and July 2025.
“Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the promotion of 16,634 teaching and non-teaching staff, and the state government has equally approved the payment of all outstanding financial benefits attached to the promotions to ensure that the affected staff enjoy the full gains of the exercise,” Kabir said.
He commended Governor Yusuf for the decision, describing it as a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to the welfare of workers and the revitalization of the education sector.
Kabir also called on the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture by demonstrating “greater dedication, discipline, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties” to further enhance basic education across the state.
The approval comes as part of ongoing efforts by the Kano State Government to boost staff morale and improve the quality of education in public schools.
