Jigawa govt approves ₦75bn supplementary budget for 2025

The Jigawa State Government has approved a supplementary budget of ₦75 billion for the 2025 fiscal year, citing the need to address emerging financial demands and strengthen priority sectors.

The Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport and Culture, Sagir Musa, disclosed this on Wednesday in Dutse after the State Executive Council meeting.

According to him, the supplementary appropriation followed additional revenue generated by the state.

“The reason for the supplementary budget is to address emerging financial needs and strengthen priority sectors for sustainable development across the state,” Musa explained.

He said the approved figures include ₦58 billion for the state government and ₦17 billion for the 27 local government councils, covering both recurrent and capital expenditure.

Musa added that the new budget would boost ongoing projects in education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture and other development programmes.

“The supplementary budget also provides fiscal support for new and unforeseen expenditure requirements, aligning public spending with current socio-economic realities and development targets,” he noted.

He further confirmed that the proposal would be submitted to the Jigawa State House of Assembly for legislative approval in line with constitutional provisions.

Governor Umar Namadi, who earlier signed the 2025 appropriation bill of ₦698.3 billion into law, described the budget as “transformative” and essential for the state’s long-term growth.

“This year’s budget of ₦698.3 billion is the highest in the history of Jigawa State. It is designed to restructure the state into a greater one,” Namadi said, stressing that 76 percent of the budget was allocated to capital projects.

The administration emphasized that these investments would lay the foundation for sustainable economic development and improved living standards across the state.
