Super Eagles striker, Kelechi Iheanacho, found the back of the net but could not inspire Celtic to victory as they settled for a 1-1 draw with Serbian giants FK Crvena zvezda in Wednesday’s Europa League clash.
The 27-year-old forward broke the deadlock in the 55th minute, calmly finishing off a well-worked Celtic move to give the Scottish champions the lead.
However, Red Star restored parity later in the second half with a clinical effort, leaving both teams to walk away with a point apiece in a fiercely contested encounter.
Iheanacho’s strike was his second goal since joining the Glasgow side, a welcome boost as he looks to rediscover his sharp edge in front of goal.
Celtic will quickly turn their attention back to domestic duties when they face Hibernian on Saturday as they continue their Scottish Premiership title defence.
Despite the draw, Brendan Rodgers’ men will take encouragement from Iheanacho’s growing influence in attack, a positive sign ahead of their European and league campaigns.
