The Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has approved the promotion of 374 officers serving in the Kwara State Police Command as part of efforts to boost morale and reward professionalism within the force.
The exercise, which forms part of a broader nationwide promotion process in the Nigeria Police Force, affected personnel across several ranks.
A statement released by the Kwara State Police Command spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said 365 constables were elevated to corporals, two corporals were promoted to sergeants, while five sergeants moved up to the rank of inspector. In addition, two superintendents were promoted to chief superintendents.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ojo Adekimi, congratulated the beneficiaries, describing the promotion as recognition of their dedication and service.
“This promotion is a recognition of the commitment, sacrifice and invaluable contributions of the beneficiaries to the maintenance of law and order in Kwara State and the country at large,” Adekimi said.
He added that the elevation should be seen not only as a reward but also as a call to greater responsibility.
“Promotion is both a reward for good performance and a call to greater responsibility. Officers who have benefited from this exercise must remain disciplined, professional and committed to the core values of the Nigeria Police Force,” he stated.
Adekimi also urged the newly promoted officers to intensify efforts in protecting lives and property while ensuring peace and security across the state.
