The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the appointment of Superintendent of Police Abimbola Adebisi as the new spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command.
Her appointment follows the elevation of her predecessor, Benjamin Hundeyin, who was recently promoted to Force Public Relations Officer.
Confirming the development in a statement on Monday, the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Babasayi Oluseyi, said Adebisi is bringing a strong blend of academic knowledge and operational expertise to the role.
“SP Abimbola Adebisi comes into this office with a wealth of academic, professional, and operational experience. The Command is confident she will build on the existing relationship between the police and the people of Lagos State,” the statement read in part.
Adebisi holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from Tai Solarin University of Education, a Postgraduate Diploma in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, and a Master’s degree in English Language from the National Open University of Nigeria.
She has also undergone professional courses in human rights, psychology, conflict management, and child protection at institutions including the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, Accra.
Her career trajectory includes postings as Staff Officer to the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Operations), Personal Assistant to the Commissioner of Police at the Special Protection Unit, and most recently, Police Public Relations Liaison Officer at the SPU, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
She is a registered member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and belongs to global professional bodies such as the International Public Relations Association, International Association of Women Police, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
Welcoming her, the Lagos State Police Command expressed optimism about her impact on community-police engagement.
“The Command warmly welcomes SP Abimbola Adebisi and assures Lagos residents and media stakeholders of her readiness to consolidate the synergy between the Police and the people, in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police,” the statement added.
