Arsenal striker, Viktor Gyökeres, has expressed confidence that the Gunners will recover quickly from their Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.
Despite the setback, Arsenal remain firmly in control of the Premier League title race, holding a nine-point lead over second-placed City, who also have a game in hand as Pep Guardiola’s side continues to apply pressure.
The defeat ended what had been a strong run of form and effectively halted Arsenal’s hopes of a potential quadruple this season.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Gyökeres said the team is determined to respond positively and return stronger in the coming matches.
“Of course we don’t feel at our best right now, but it’s not like we have a match in three days. We will definitely come back again and be even more motivated before the (forthcoming) matches.
“We created some chances at the beginning of the game and then I think it was maybe ten minutes from halftime that they got momentum. I think they had the ball … maybe they didn’t create many dangerous chances but they had the ball for a long time and it looked the same in the second half.
“Normally, when there are two top teams, it can be so (where the first goal is decisive). In the moment of the match where they scored… yes, it was hard to get started after that.”
