The Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has called for unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians as Muslim faithful celebrate Eid-el-Fitr.
In a goodwill message issued on Thursday in Port Harcourt by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, the governor congratulated Muslims in the state and across the country on the successful completion of Ramadan.
“On behalf of the government and people of Rivers State, I wish all Muslim faithful a joyous Eid-el-Fitr,” Fubara said.
He expressed hope that the celebration would foster peace, harmony and stronger relationships among people of different backgrounds.
“May this occasion strengthen our bonds of peace, unity and mutual respect among all faiths. Let us continue to cherish our diversity and promote harmony, tolerance and understanding,” he added.
Fubara further urged Nigerians to uphold values of compassion and forgiveness in their daily lives, noting that such virtues are essential for national development.
“May our shared values of compassion, forgiveness and unity guide us in our daily lives. Happy Eid-el-Fitr,” he said.
Eid-el-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, a period of fasting, prayer and charity observed by Muslims worldwide. The Federal Government had earlier declared March 19 and 20, 2026, as public holidays to celebrate the festival.
