Fubara supporters protest in Rivers following Supreme Court ruling

Supporters of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, took to the streets in Port Harcourt on Monday to show their solidarity with the governor.

The supporters believe that Governor Fubara is being victimized following the recent Supreme Court judgment that removed council chairmen.

They took over the Omuma LGA secretariat and other areas in the early hours of Monday to express their discontent.

DAILY POST reports that the Supreme Court dealt a major blow to Fubara on Friday by nullifying the results of the Local Government election held in the state on October 5, 2024.

The judgment also reinstated an earlier ruling that barred the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Accountant General of the Federation from releasing statutory monthly allocations to the state.

This development has sparked anger among the governor’s supporters, who have accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of witch-hunting Governor Fubara.
