Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has invited Rostov midfielder Ibraheem Mahfus Ajasa to join the squad for Nigeria’s international friendly against Russia on Tuesday.
Ajasa’s Russian club confirmed his invitation in a post on its website on Saturday, wishing the 20-year-old midfielder good luck ahead of the encounter.
His invitation follows the withdrawal of Super Eagles captain, Wilfred Ndidi, from the friendly after he picked up an injury.
Ajasa, who joined Rostov last year, could now make his senior international debut when Nigeria take on Russia.
The midfielder is expected to provide Chelle with another option in the middle of the park as the Super Eagles prepare for the friendly.
Nigeria will be hoping to bounce back from their disappointing 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau in a 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match played a few days ago.
The Russia friendly will give Chelle an opportunity to assess his players and make adjustments ahead of Nigeria’s upcoming competitive fixtures.
