Paris Saint-Germain secured their first Ligue 1 victory of the season after beating Brest 1-0 in Brittany on Saturday.
Ferran Torres gave the European champions an early lead, finishing Joao Neves’ pass after Ousmane Dembele had created space on the edge of the box.
The Spanish forward fired a first-time effort into the bottom corner from about 25 yards in the fifth minute.
PSG continued to threaten, with Dembele forcing Brest goalkeeper Egil Selvik into a save before Khvicha Kvaratskhelia missed the follow-up.
Brest gradually settled into the contest and created chances through Pathe Mboup and Ludovic Ajorque.
Luis Enrique’s side suffered a setback when Achraf Hakimi was forced off with an injury midway through the first half.
Brest then grew into the game, while Selvik kept PSG from extending their advantage with another save from Kvaratskhelia.
Brest came close to an equaliser early in the second half when Kamory Doumbia capitalised on a loose pass from Nuno Mendes, only for his effort to hit the post.
PSG thought they had doubled their lead when Bradley Locko turned the ball into his own net, but the goal was ruled out for a foul by Warren Zaire-Emery.
The hosts continued to test PSG, with Doumbia forcing a fine low save from Matvey Safonov, while Willian Pacho made an important interception to prevent another dangerous attack.
Safonov was again called into action late on as Brest pushed for an equaliser.
PSG held on to claim three points and end their wait for a league victory this season.
They will now turn their attention to next weekend’s Le Classique against Marseille, while Brest suffered their first defeat of the campaign.
