Everton beat Crystal Palace 2-0 in EPL opener

Everton began their 2026/27 Premier League campaign on a winning note after securing a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday.

David Moyes’ side ended their poor run of four consecutive opening-day defeats with a convincing performance against Pierre Sage’s Palace.

Crystal Palace created the first clear opportunities, with Jean-Philippe Mateta wasting a close-range chance inside the opening three minutes.

Eddie Nketiah later forced a save from Jordan Pickford, while Everton goalkeeper Dean Henderson denied Iliman Ndiaye at the other end.

Mateta came close again before the break, striking the post with only Pickford to beat.

Everton eventually broke the deadlock shortly before half-time when Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall collected Harrison Armstrong’s pass before firing a superb left-footed effort into the far corner.

The hosts doubled their advantage eight minutes after the restart.

Ndiaye delivered an excellent cross into the box, and Thierno Barry rose to head the ball home from close range.

Palace pushed for a way back into the contest, but Everton remained dangerous, with Henderson keeping out another effort from Ndiaye.

Pickford also made an important late save to deny Jørgen Strand Larsen as Everton comfortably held on for all three points.

The victory gives Moyes a positive start to the new Premier League campaign and extends Everton’s impressive recent record against Palace.
