EPL: Wolves move closer to relegation with Bournemouth loss

Junior Kroupi and Alex Scott struck to secure AFC Bournemouth a hard-earned 2-0 win at Molineux against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Bournemouth claimed their third league victory in four games, handing Wolves their first home defeat of 2026 and leaving the struggling side even deeper in relegation trouble.

The breakthrough came after Wolves had started brightly. An early mistake from André allowed 19-year-old Kroupi to fire in his eighth goal of the season, giving the Cherries the lead.

Despite Wolves’ efforts, they were unable to breach Bournemouth’s organised defence. Djordje Petrovic made several important saves in the second half, while João Gomes’ shot rattled the post.

Bournemouth’s away form, previously inconsistent, improved as Scott’s late strike sealed the victory, marking their first road win since defeating Tottenham 1-0 in August.

Wolves had seemed confident early on. Mateus Mané appeared to open the scoring with a header from Rodrigo Gomes’ cross, but the assistant referee ruled the effort offside.

Wolves continued to press, with Petrovic handling a tame strike from distance by Mané. However, their promising start was undone by a costly error.

André’s misplaced pass gifted Bournemouth possession in a dangerous area. Scott drove forward before laying it off to Amine Adli, who squared for Kroupi to curl a beautiful finish over José Sá.

The goal exposed Wolves’ defensive vulnerabilities and shifted momentum firmly in Bournemouth’s favour, though Sá denied Adli’s follow-up effort.

The second half began with Bournemouth immediately pressing for a second. Alex Jimenez raced clear but Sá managed to block his shot.

Wolves continued to threaten, with Mané winning a free-kick, only for Hee Chan Hwang’s effort to be comfortably saved by Petrovic.

Their best chance arrived around the hour mark when Hugo Bueno set up Tolu Arokodare, but the striker’s close-range effort was also denied.

Bournemouth’s new signing, Rayan, made his debut after joining from Vasco Da Gama, coming on in the final quarter of the match.

He impressed immediately, providing the assist for Scott to seal the win with a clinical finish from inside the six-yard box—sparking celebrations among the travelling supporters.

Wolves, meanwhile, continued to press, with Yerson Mosquera hitting the post in a late attempt to salvage something from the game.

However, Bournemouth held firm to claim a morale-boosting victory, while Wolves suffered back-to-back defeats, taking another step toward relegation.
