Wolverhampton Wanderers fought back to earn a 1-1 draw with Manchester United, securing only their third Premier League point of the season.
Ruben Amorim reverted to his preferred formation despite last week’s win over Newcastle, and Wolves started brightly, showing promise without fully convincing.
Early chances came their way as Jose Sa scrambled to push Luke Shaw’s corner behind, while Benjamin Sesko nearly found the bottom corner after outmaneuvering Matt Doherty. Hwang Hee-Chan also fired over, leaving Wolves still searching for a breakthrough.
Manchester United took the lead just before the half-hour mark in somewhat fortunate fashion. Joshua Zirkzee’s flick bounced back off Ladislav Krejci, allowing the striker to convert a deflected effort past Sa.
Wolves kept pressing. Hwang missed another chance, Patrick Dorgu’s shot was deflected wide, and Sesko’s header rattled the post. Tolu Arokodare nodded over, while Hugo Bueno’s effort was blocked by Senne Lammens.
The hosts finally found an equaliser in the 45th minute. Krejci redeemed himself by capitalising on Zirkzee’s attempted clearance, directing a perfect header past Lammens to level the score.
After the break, United had multiple opportunities to retake the lead. Matheus Cunha volleyed over, Ayden Heaven’s strike was blocked, and Sesko sent another header straight at Sa. Diogo Dalot misdirected a header, while Sa and Lammens pulled off crucial saves at both ends to keep the scores even.
Wolves came close late on, with Doherty deflecting Dorgu’s shot and Dalot making a last-ditch intervention to deny Jhon Arias. Dorgu thought he had scored after Sesko’s effort had been saved, but an offside flag ruled it out. Wolves ultimately ended their 12-game losing streak across all competitions, gaining a vital morale boost.
The result is less satisfying for Manchester United, who remain unable to string consecutive wins together since late October, missing a key chance to climb the table.
