EPL: Nottingham Forest fire Postecoglu after winless run

Nottingham Forest have dismissed manager, Ange Postecoglou, following a poor run of form, with the decision coming just minutes after a 3-0 home loss to Chelsea on Saturday.

In a statement shared on X, the club announced, “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect. The club will make no further comment at this time.”

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis reportedly left his seat before the end of the match at the City Ground, and confirmation of Postecoglou’s departure came soon after the final whistle.

Appointed on September 9, just months after guiding Tottenham Hotspur to Europa League glory, the Australian manager failed to record a win in eight games, losing six, prompting Marinakis to act swiftly.

His exit means Forest are now searching for their third manager of the season.

Postecoglou had remained confident ahead of the Chelsea clash, telling reporters on Friday that whenever he is allowed time at a club, “it always ends with me and a trophy.”

Former Burnley and Everton boss Sean Dyche is reportedly among the leading candidates to replace him.
