Liverpool secured a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth on Sunday, with Sweden international Alexander Isak scoring the decisive goal as Andoni Iraola marked his return to the Vitality Stadium with three points.
Isak broke the deadlock in the 57th minute, converting after Cody Gakpo produced a strong run down the right before delivering a cross into the box.
Florian Wirtz was unable to make contact under pressure, but Isak reacted quickly to sweep the ball home.
The goal was Isak’s fourth in the Premier League this season and helped Liverpool maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign under Iraola.
Bournemouth had the better chance of the opening stages when Marcus Tavernier found Evanilson inside the box.
The Brazilian attempted to flick the ball past Alisson Becker at the near post, but the Liverpool goalkeeper reacted sharply to keep it out.
Liverpool also threatened through Dominik Szoboszlai, who twice came close from free-kicks, while a deflected effort from Bradley Barcola forced Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic into a save.
The hosts pushed for an equaliser after Isak’s opener, but Liverpool defended their lead effectively.
Evanilson tested Alisson again in the closing stages, while Bournemouth were unable to take advantage of their late set-piece opportunities.
The defeat leaves Bournemouth still searching for their first Premier League victory of the season, while Liverpool extended their unbeaten run and handed Iraola a winning return to his former club.
