Morgan Gibbs-White produced a stunning 15-minute hat-trick as Nottingham Forest powered past Burnley 4–1 to strengthen their grip on Premier League survival.
The Forest captain once again stepped up at a crucial moment in the season, delivering a decisive second-half burst that turned a difficult afternoon into a commanding victory at the City Ground.
The hosts, who had been in Europa League action just days earlier, struggled to find rhythm in a flat first half and were punished just before the break when Zian Flemming struck to give Burnley the lead, deepening concerns of an upset.
Forest’s performance lacked spark and intensity for long spells, and things got worse in first-half stoppage time when Nikola Milenković’s defensive error allowed Burnley to carve open an attack, with Quilindschy Hartman’s cross eventually converted by Flemming at the back post.
The atmosphere shifted after the interval, especially with the introduction of Igor Jesus, who added energy to Forest’s forward play and helped tilt momentum.
Although Gibbs-White initially squandered a clear chance from close range, he quickly made amends. In the 63rd minute, he reacted smartly to a loose ball in the box to bring Forest level with a composed finish.
Just six minutes later, Forest completed the turnaround when Omari Hutchinson delivered a low cross from the byline, allowing Gibbs-White to sweep home his second goal and ignite celebrations around the stadium.
The midfielder then completed his hat-trick in the 76th minute, rising to meet a delivery from Ryan Yates and powering a header into the top corner to put the result beyond doubt.
Forest added a fourth late on when Igor Jesus broke clear and calmly slotted home to seal a convincing win, lifting the club further clear of danger and leaving Burnley’s survival hopes hanging by a thread.
The match also carried an emotional tone, as Elliot Anderson made a return to the squad following a personal bereavement, with supporters paying tribute before kick-off in a touching moment of unity at the City Ground.
