Leeds United produced a dominant first-half display to thrash Newcastle United 4-1 in their Premier League clash at Elland Road on Sunday.
Daniel Farke’s side took control early and scored three times before the break to put the game beyond Newcastle’s reach.
Lewis Miley’s own goal opened the scoring in the 32nd minute before Jayden Bogle doubled the advantage with a close-range header two minutes later.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin then added a third for Leeds in first-half stoppage time, calmly finishing after good work from Tarik Muharemović to send the hosts into the interval with a commanding 3-0 lead.
Newcastle improved after the restart and enjoyed more possession as they searched for a way back into the contest.
Joe Willock came close when his effort struck the woodwork, while the visitors also introduced Bazoumana Touré and Tino Livramento to add more attacking threat.
However, Leeds extended their advantage in the 59th minute when Noah Okafor finished from a throw-in routine.
Newcastle continued to push forward but struggled to turn their possession and crossing into clear-cut opportunities.
The visitors eventually pulled one goal back in the 90th minute when Touré converted from Livramento’s assist.
It proved little more than a consolation as Leeds comfortably saw out the remaining minutes to secure an emphatic 4-1 victory.
Calvert-Lewin was instrumental in the win, scoring once and assisting another as Leeds punished Newcastle with their clinical finishing and quick attacking play.
