Tottenham’s fragile season took another damaging turn as they slumped to a heavy 3-0 home defeat against Nottingham Forest, deepening concerns about a potential relegation battle.
Coming off a relatively encouraging week, a hard-earned draw at Anfield and an uplifting 3-2 victory over Atletico Madrid, Spurs appeared to be regaining momentum under interim boss Igor Tudor.
However, that optimism quickly faded after a dismal display in front of their home supporters.
The atmosphere had been electric before kick-off, with fans passionately welcoming the team bus, and Tottenham initially responded with intent.
They dominated large spells of the first half and struck the crossbar twice, but their inability to convert chances proved costly.
Just before the break, Forest delivered a decisive blow. Igor Jesus rose highest to head home in the 45th minute, silencing the home crowd and handing the visitors a crucial lead.
Spurs struggled to recover after the interval, and Nottingham Forest took full advantage. Morgan Gibbs-White doubled the lead in the 62nd minute, finishing off a well-worked move, before substitute Taiwo Awoniyi sealed the victory late on with a simple tap-in that sent fans streaming out of the stadium.
Loud boos greeted the final whistle as Tottenham’s miserable run continued. Now without a win in 13 Premier League matches, they sit 17th in the table, just one point above West Ham, with pressure mounting once again on Tudor.
Meanwhile, Forest built on their recent Europa League progress with a vital win that boosts their hopes of survival.
