Edo State Deputy Governor Philip Shuaibu has expressed his delight and sense of vindication following the All Progressives Congress victory in the September 21 governorship election.

In an interview on Arise Television, Shuaibu stated that he feels validated by the election outcome, which saw APC’s Monday Okpebholo emerge as the governor-elect.

Shuaibu, who has had a strained relationship with incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki, highlighted his own electoral success, claiming to have secured the highest vote from his unit, ward, and local government.

The deputy governor also took a swipe at Obaseki, noting that the governor failed to win his own local government area.

Shuaibu’s comments reflect the complex dynamics within Edo State politics, particularly his own history with Governor Obaseki.

The APC’s victory marks a significant shift in the state’s political landscape, with Shuaibu’s remarks underscoring the party’s renewed momentum.

His words, “I feel vindicated and I thank God for it. I am water, I don’t have an enemy, unfortunately, those who decided that they are enemies, I have always prayed for them to live long and see how Go’s miracle continues to work in my life.

“I am a team player, I am somebody who likes to do my work the way it should be and if I make mistake, it is a human mistake not out of envy or wickedness.

” I have never lost my ward, I have never lost my unit.

“Even the governor couldn’t win his local government. I won my unit, ward and local government.

“Where are the governor’s results? He has never won; we always assisted him. What is left now is for him to go back and start begging and apologising to the people of Edo,” the deputy governor stated.
