Dubai churches cancel Easter masses amid Middle East war

All Catholic Masses in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, have been cancelled due to the ongoing Middle East war, according to announcements published Friday by two churches just days before Easter.

Following government directives, “all Masses at our Church are cancelled until further notice,” St Francis of Assisi Church at Jebel Ali in Dubai posted.

The coastal Jebel Ali area has reportedly come under repeated missile and drone attacks launched by Iran targeting nearby Gulf states, in response to the Israeli-US offensive that began on February 28.

“Parishioners are requested to refrain from visiting the Church premises, in the interest of safety and community well-being,” the announcement added.

St Mary’s Catholic Church in Dubai also issued a similar notice on its website, adding that its Good Friday Mass would instead be live-streamed on the church’s YouTube channel.
