Diddy transferred to federal prison to serve jail term

American rap mogul, Sean “Diddy” Combs, has been moved to a federal correctional facility in New Jersey to begin serving his four-year, two-month prison sentence for prostitution-related offenses, according to a federal record released on Friday.

The 55-year-old is now housed at the low-security Fort Dix prison, located about 130 kilometers (80 miles) south of New York. The facility is noted for its rehabilitation and drug treatment programs.

Combs’ legal team had earlier requested his transfer to the New Jersey institution, where he is scheduled to remain until May 8, 2028, according to information from the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

The Bad Boy Records founder was arrested in September 2024 and, in July this year, found guilty on two counts of transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution.

However, he was acquitted of more severe allegations of sex trafficking and racketeering.

Before his sentencing, which factored in the time already spent in custody at a Brooklyn detention center, Combs delivered an emotional statement in court.

He said he was “truly sorry” for his actions and offered apologies to his family and victims, admitting that his conduct was “disgusting, shameful, and sick.”

The hip-hop icon has since filed appeals against both his conviction and the length of his sentence.
