The father of late Afro-fuji singer Afeez Adeshina, popularly known as Destiny Boy, has appealed to the public for assistance following the disappearance of his son’s Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) shortly after the artiste’s death.
In a video circulating on social media on Tuesday, the visibly distressed father raised concerns over the whereabouts of the vehicle, alleging that it was returned to the car dealership without the family’s knowledge and has not been released since.
According to him, the SUV was purchased from Lycon Autos, adding that he personally accompanied his son during the transaction. He explained that the dealership provided a driver to convey the vehicle home on the day it was bought.
The father said the singer later continued to use the same driver, but issues emerged when the driver allegedly claimed he was owed and took the vehicle back to the dealership without notifying the family.
“Nigerians, please help me. My son bought an SUV from Lycon Autos, and I followed him to buy it. They gave him a driver to bring the car home that day,” he said.
“Later, my son started using the driver personally. The driver later said Destiny was owing him and returned the car to where we bought it from. I don’t even have the driver’s contact. If the car were here, I would have gone to pick it up myself,” he added.
The bereaved father appealed to the public to assist in locating the vehicle or facilitating its release.
Destiny Boy, a fast-rising Afro-fuji artiste, died on Sunday at the age of 22.
Speaking earlier on the circumstances surrounding her son’s death, the singer’s mother disclosed that he had been battling a prolonged illness before he passed away.
She said the illness often resulted in seizures and that the family made repeated efforts to seek medical and traditional interventions to stabilise his condition.
“He had been sick for a long time. Sometimes the sickness would cause seizures, and we always tried our best to take care of him and ensure he didn’t hurt himself,” she said.
She dismissed rumours circulating on social media linking her son’s death to money rituals, describing the claims as false and hurtful.
“People are spreading lies just to gain attention. My son did not do any ritual. We tried everything possible to make sure he recovered,” she added.
The family has called on the public to disregard misinformation surrounding the singer’s death and to assist in resolving the issue of the missing vehicle.
