De Ligt fights back for Man United in Tottenham draw

In a pulsating north London clash, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United shared the spoils after a dramatic 2-2 draw on Saturday, with Matthijs de Ligt’s 96th-minute equaliser denying Spurs what had seemed a last-gasp victory.

The game, a repeat of May’s Europa League final, appeared to be heading in Tottenham’s favour after Bryan Mbeumo struck in the 32nd minute, causing a pang of frustration among the Spurs faithful, who have witnessed just three home league wins in 2025.

Spurs, however, fought back, with substitute Mathys Tel levelling the score in the 84th minute, raising hopes of a comeback.

Those hopes seemed to be fulfilled when Richarlison turned in a Wilson Odobert shot in the first minute of stoppage time, giving Thomas Frank what looked like a dramatic late victory.

But Manchester United had the final word. In the sixth minute of added time, De Ligt rose to meet a corner with a powerful header, snatching a draw and extending Ruben Amorim’s unbeaten streak with the club to five matches.
