The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has announced that it raked in N89.2 billion between January and June 2025, marking a significant leap from the N54.8 billion collected in the same period of 2024.
Customs Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Eghosa Edelduok, disclosed this while presenting the half-year operational report, noting that the performance represented a 63 per cent growth, a feat she attributed to improved operational strategies and stronger compliance levels.
According to her, the Command achieved the revenue boost through reforms, targeted enforcement measures, and compliance-driven initiatives.
She said, “During the period under review, the Command recorded a total revenue collection of N89.2billion. This figure represents a substantial increase compared to the corresponding period in 2024, which stood at N54.81billion.
“The difference of N34.4billion reflects a 63 per cent growth, demonstrating the Command’s enhanced operational efficiency and improved compliance levels.”
On enforcement, Edelduok emphasized that the Command sustained a firm stance of discipline, vigilance, and zero tolerance for violations.
She revealed that operatives intercepted two 40-foot containers (HLBU 1067338 and HLBU 2239792) carrying expired pharmaceutical products, valued at N130 million Duty Paid Value.
“The items contravened the provisions of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023 and other import laws. The Command has handed them over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for necessary action.
“The command’s commitment to applying the law without compromise to protect public health and uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and professionalism in all aspects of its operations.”
She further assured that the KLT Command would strengthen collaboration with stakeholders through open dialogue, inter-agency synergy, and sustained compliance facilitation.
Expressing gratitude, Edelduok commended partner agencies and stakeholders for their support, describing their roles as pivotal in helping the Command deliver on its mandate and contribute to national economic growth.
She reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to remain focused on fulfilling its statutory responsibilities in line with national security priorities, economic advancement, and service excellence.
