Besiktas terminate ex-Arsenal, Liverpool star Oxlade-Chamberlain’s contract

Former Arsenal and Liverpool midfielder, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, has parted ways with Turkish giants Besiktas following the termination of his contract, as reported by talkSPORT.

The England international joined the Istanbul-based side in 2023 after his deal with Liverpool came to an end.

His move to Turkey was initially seen as a significant signing for Besiktas, but a string of persistent injuries plagued his stint with the club.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, now a free agent, saw his contract terminated by mutual agreement.

According to reports, Besiktas paid around £1.2 million to release the midfielder, a figure believed to be less than what they would have owed had they paid out the remainder of his contract.

The 30-year-old had one year left on his deal but was unlikely to revive his career at the club under new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

During his career at Arsenal, Oxlade-Chamberlain lifted both the FA Cup and the Community Shield.

He then added to his trophy cabinet at Liverpool, winning the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.
