Barcelona overcame a sluggish first half to reclaim the top spot in LaLiga with a commanding 3-0 victory over Real Oviedo at Camp Nou.
The Catalans struggled to break down their opponents in the opening 45 minutes, with chances few and far between.
Ilyas Chaira’s angled shot was smothered by Oviedo goalkeeper Joan Garcia, while Raphinha saw a similar effort parried by Aaron Escandell.
However, Barcelona came alive after the interval. Just six minutes into the second half, Dani Olmo capitalized on a defensive error from David Carmo, slotting a low shot into the bottom-left corner to open the scoring.
The momentum quickly doubled when David Costas’ slack backpass allowed Raphinha to chip Escandell from distance, giving Barca a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Lamine Yamal then sealed the win with a spectacular overhead kick, connecting perfectly with Olmo’s cross to leave the Oviedo goalkeeper helpless.
The victory was well-earned for Hansi Flick’s side, who generated 2.41 expected goals (xG) from 15 attempts while restricting Oviedo to just 0.42 xG.
It also marked Barcelona’s 10th consecutive home win, the first time the club has reached double-digit home victories under a single manager in LaLiga since Ernesto Valverde’s tenure in December 2019.
For Oviedo, the result extended a dismal run, leaving them winless in their last 14 league matches, with their last triumph dating back to September against Valencia.
