Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the revered Awujale of Ijebuland, has passed away at the age of 91, marking the end of an era that spanned over six decades.
According to the FIJ, the announcement of his death came just hours after the reported passing of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari.
Oba Adetona ascended the throne on April 2, 1960, and served as one of Nigeria’s longest-reigning monarchs.
His 65-year reign was marked by remarkable contributions to traditional leadership, cultural preservation, and socio-economic development in Ogun State and beyond.
