Arsenal are reportedly exploring plans to expand the capacity of the Emirates Stadium, with early-stage internal discussions already underway.
According to BBC Sport, the talks remain preliminary, with no specific strategy or preferred design option yet agreed upon.
However, one scenario under consideration includes staging home fixtures at Wembley Stadium should construction works proceed.
The idea of using Wembley is not new to the Gunners, they previously hosted Champions League matches at the old Wembley Stadium during the 1998-99 and 1999-2000 seasons.
Similarly, rivals Tottenham Hotspur used the current Wembley as their temporary home ground between 2016 and 2019 while their new stadium was being completed.
Next year will mark two decades since Arsenal moved from Highbury to the Emirates Stadium, and the club is now assessing ways to enhance capacity by adjusting the current seating configuration.
The move is aimed at keeping pace with the country’s largest football arenas.
With a capacity of 60,704, the Emirates currently ranks as the fifth-largest stadium in English football.
Manchester United’s Old Trafford leads the list with 74,879 seats, followed by Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (62,850), West Ham’s London Stadium (62,500), and Liverpool’s Anfield (61,276).
