Arsenal defender, Ben White, is set to miss the remainder of the season after suffering a medial ligament injury, according to Sky Sports, dealing a significant blow to both Arsenal F.C. and England national football team ahead of the World Cup.
The defender was forced off during the first half of Arsenal’s clash against West Ham United F.C. on Sunday after picking up the injury.
White will now sit out Arsenal’s final two Premier League fixtures against Burnley F.C. and Crystal Palace F.C. as the Gunners continue their push for a first league title in 22 years.
He is also expected to miss the UEFA Champions League final later this month.
The setback has also cast serious doubt over White’s involvement at this summer’s FIFA World Cup in North America.
The 27-year-old had only recently returned to the England setup after being recalled by head coach Thomas Tuchel in March.
