Airport police to honour fallen officers during National Police day

The Airport Police Command has revealed plans to recognise the sacrifices of fallen officers as part of activities lined up for the 2026 National Police Day celebration, themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust.”

This was disclosed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohammed Adeola, in a post shared on X on Friday.

He noted that the event would also serve to strengthen relationships with the public and build confidence within the aviation community and beyond.

According to the Command, a number of activities have been scheduled to mark the occasion. The programme will commence on Monday, March 30, with a sanitation and environmental cleaning exercise, followed by a walkathon on Tuesday, March 31.

On Wednesday, April 1, the Command will embark on public sensitisation campaigns, engaging drivers and other stakeholders within the airport environment.

The families of deceased officers will be honoured on Thursday, April 2, with the presentation of cheques in recognition of the sacrifices made by the fallen officers.

The celebration will conclude on Tuesday, April 7, at Eagle Square, Abuja, with a grand finale featuring a ceremonial parade, tactical displays, and other activities showcasing police professionalism.

Speaking on the planned events, the Commissioner of Police, Airport Police Command, Ogunbode Olufunke, said, “National Police Day gives us the opportunity not only to honor the heroes who have laid down their lives in service but also to inspire a new generation of police officers committed to professionalism and community service.”

The Command also stated that all activities are in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, to promote community partnership and boost public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.

“We are fully prepared to participate actively in the National Police Day events.

This is our chance to demonstrate commitment, honor our heroes, and reinforce the values of service and trust that guide our work every day,” Ogunbode said.
