Adeleke orders probe into killing of Accord chieftain

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has ordered an investigation into the killing of an Accord Party chieftain, Olalekan Ajagungbade, popularly known as Emir, in Ile-Ife.

Ajagungbade was reportedly shot dead on Sunday during a confrontation linked to a dispute over the control of a motor park in the Mayfair area of the ancient city.

According to reports, the victim was attacked while attending a meeting with some commercial drivers at the park.

The incident later triggered further violence involving rival groups, with reports of gunshots in parts of Ile-Ife and Osogbo, the state capital.

“It was reportedly a dispute over leadership and control of the park. Following the incident, police operatives moved in and took control of the area.”
