The Senate confirmed the appointment of Capt. Chris Ona Najomo as the new Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority on Thursday.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the confirmation followed the adoption of the report presented by the Senate Committee on Aviation during plenary.
Senator Buhari Abdulfatai, the committee chairman (APC-Oyo), stated that the committee had thoroughly screened the nominee and found him highly qualified for the role. He highlighted Najomo’s extensive experience and significant contributions to the aviation industry, emphasizing these qualities as key factors for his suitability.
“This is due to his vast experience and outstanding contributions in the aviation industry” he said.
Senator Mohammed Monguno (APC-Borno), while acknowledging that he was not a member of the committee, also voiced his support for the nomination. He noted that Najomo’s impressive resume and the absence of any adverse security reports further bolstered his confidence in the nominee.
Following the presentation, the Senate unanimously approved the recommendations and confirmed Najomo as the Director General of the NCAA.
