Rayo Vallecano secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Celta Vigo in their LaLiga clash at the Estadio de Vallecas on Saturday, with Jorge de Frutos scoring twice.
De Frutos opened the scoring in the 36th minute after receiving a pass from Sergio Camello following a quick attacking move initiated by Adrià Pedrosa’s interception.
The forward doubled Rayo’s advantage 10 minutes into the second half, finishing Andrei Rațiu’s pass in the 55th minute to put the hosts firmly in control.
Unai López completed the victory in the 73rd minute, firing home from the edge of the penalty area after being set up by substitute Gnangoro Bouaré.
Celta struggled to threaten throughout the encounter despite enjoying periods of possession.
The visitors registered 11 attempts but failed to get any of them on target, while Rayo recorded eight efforts on target from 14 attempts.
Rayo goalkeeper Emil Audero therefore finished the game without making a save, as the hosts maintained their clean sheet.
De Frutos was named the man of the match after his impressive performance, having scored both goals from three attempts on target.
The victory gives Rayo three important points in the 11th round of the Spanish top flight, while Celta will be disappointed with their inability to convert their attacking opportunities.
