The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board says it has concluded plans to refund 500 intending pilgrims who paid an initial deposit of ₦8 million for the 2027 Hajj exercise.
The refunds follow the announcement of the final Hajj fare of ₦7,672,822, leaving each of the affected pilgrims entitled to ₦327,178.
The Director-General of the board, Abubakar Matawalle, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday by the board’s Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Dederi.
Matawalle said the board had finalised arrangements to return the excess payments to the affected pilgrims.
“Arrangements have been concluded for the refund of excess payments to 500 intending pilgrims who initially deposited ₦8,000,000 each,” he said.
He advised the beneficiaries to submit the required documents through their respective Local Government Hajj Centre officers to facilitate the refund process.
The documents required include bank account details, a photocopy of the original payment receipt and a formal application letter requesting the refund.
Matawalle directed the affected pilgrims to submit the documents on or before Monday, October 26, 2026, to enable the board to begin processing the payments.
He also expressed appreciation to the Kano State Government for its continued support towards the welfare of pilgrims from the state.
