The Confederation of African Football will deploy a 15-member delegation to Nigeria on Friday to assess preparations for the 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly and the 2026 CAF Awards.
The inspection is the final assessment ahead of the two events, which Nigeria is scheduled to host in November and December.
The CAF Ordinary General Assembly will take place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja on November 21, while the 2026 CAF Awards ceremony is scheduled for December 7 at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Lagos.
According to a statement published on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) website, the delegation will be led by CAF’s Head of Safety and Security, Dr Christian Emeruwa.
The officials are expected to arrive in Lagos on Friday afternoon, where they will inspect key facilities and meet representatives of institutions involved in hosting the events.
Their itinerary includes the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, Eko Hotel and Suites, and the Murtala Muhammed International Airport. They will also hold discussions with officials of the Lagos State Government.
The team will subsequently assess facilities in Abuja, including the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Transcorp Hilton Hotel and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
The delegation is also expected to pay courtesy visits to the Chairman and Director-General of the National Sports Commission as part of efforts to evaluate the level of preparedness for the events.
The final inspection follows an earlier visit by CAF officials between July 31 and August 4, during which they met with representatives of relevant institutions and government agencies in Lagos and Abuja.
The initial meetings focused on establishing communication channels and coordinating arrangements to ensure the successful hosting of both events.
A six-member NFF delegation, led by Dr Ademola Olajire, will accompany the CAF officials during the inspection exercise.
Nigeria’s hosting of the two major continental football events is expected to bring together football administrators and stakeholders from across Africa.
