Ligue 1: Paris FC beat Strasbourg 2-1, secure second spot

Paris FC beat Strasbourg to climb second in Ligue 1
Paris FC moved up to second place in Ligue 1 after defeating Strasbourg 2-1 at the Stade Jean-Bouin on Saturday.

Ilan Kebbal opened the scoring for the hosts in the 18th minute, firing a left-footed effort into the net after combining with Lassine Sinayoko.

Strasbourg responded after the break and nearly levelled when Sebastian Nanasi’s header forced goalkeeper Kevin Trapp into a save in the 48th minute.

Paris FC extended their advantage nine minutes later through Pablo Pagis, who produced a fine finish into the top-right corner following a quick counter-attack and cross from Maxime Lopez.

Strasbourg pulled a goal back two minutes from full-time when Paris FC defender Mamadou Mbow inadvertently turned the ball into his own net, setting up a tense closing period.

However, Paris FC held on to secure their third win of the campaign and extend their unbeaten run to five matches.

They recorded 17 attempts, with seven on target, while Strasbourg managed five shots, only one of which tested Trapp.

Paris FC will next travel to face Lorient, while Strasbourg will visit Nice.
