Moroccan forward, Yassir Zabiri, continued his impressive start to life in La Liga, scoring twice as Racing Santander came from behind to defeat Alavés 2-1 at home on Matchday 5.
The 21-year-old striker cancelled out Alavés’ opener in the first half, beating the offside trap before curling a left-footed effort into the net to restore parity.
Zabiri completed his brace after the break, reacting quickly inside the box to convert from close range and put Racing Santander ahead.
The latest goals took his league tally to five in his first five appearances of the season.
He had previously scored a hat-trick against Elche on Matchday 3.
Zabiri had set himself a target of scoring 10 La Liga goals this season, meaning he has already reached half of his personal objective after just five rounds.
The Moroccan joined Racing Santander on loan from French club Rennes during the summer transfer window, with his current market value reportedly estimated at €9m.
He gained international recognition at last year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup, where he scored twice in the final against Argentina to help Morocco win the title.
He finished the tournament with five goals and claimed the Silver Ball award.
