French club, RC Lens, produced a dramatic late comeback to defeat Slavia Prague 3-2 away from home in their UEFA Champions League opener on Thursday.
Lens looked set for a disappointing start to their European campaign after Slavia Prague twice took the lead, with the hosts also benefiting from a strong spell despite being reduced to 10 men early in the second half.
Slavia were dealt a blow in the 49th minute when Konechny was sent off, giving Lens a numerical advantage and an opportunity to take control of the contest.
However, the hosts continued to threaten and Storm restored their advantage in the 51st minute before scoring again in the 88th minute to put Slavia on course for victory.
Lens responded strongly in the closing stages, with Sima pulling one goal back in the 73rd minute to keep the visitors’ hopes alive.
The French side completed their remarkable recovery in stoppage time as Thauvin equalised in the 91st minute before Aguilar struck two minutes later to complete the turnaround.
The victory gives Lens three points from their opening Champions League fixture and a strong start to their continental campaign.
They will next face Sporting at home on October 13.
