Bayern Munich began their UEFA Champions League campaign in emphatic fashion as England captain Harry Kane scored in a 5-0 victory over Bodo/Glimt on Thursday.
The German giants found it difficult to break down the Norwegian side in the first half, but they raised the tempo after the interval and eventually ran riot.
Jamal Musiala opened the scoring shortly after the restart when Kane’s effort took a deflection into his path, allowing the Germany international to finish and give Bayern a deserved lead.
Kane then doubled Bayern’s advantage with a header from a free-kick, taking his Champions League tally to 55 goals in 71 appearances.
The striker has now scored 34 European goals in 39 games for Bayern.
Alphonso Davies added a third with a powerful strike from the edge of the box before Michael Olise curled a fine effort into the top corner to make it 4-0.
Bodo/Glimt’s miserable night worsened when Odin Bjortuft was shown a red card for a foul on Olise, who completed the rout by scoring his second goal in stoppage time.
The victory gives Vincent Kompany’s side an ideal start as they aim to go further than last season, when Bayern reached the Champions League semi-finals.
