APC reopens e-registration ahead of 2027 elections

The All Progressives Congress has announced the nationwide reopening of its electronic membership registration exercise as it steps up preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The Punch reported that the exercise is scheduled to commence on August 31, 2026, and will be conducted across wards nationwide.

It will accommodate both existing members and prospective entrants, with registered members required to validate their records while new members can enrol in the party.

APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, saying the exercise was designed to establish a dependable and digitally managed membership database.

Morka urged party leaders, members and supporters to participate actively, noting that an updated register would enhance the party’s organisational capacity and support effective planning and administration.

“The e-registration exercise is designed to digitise the party’s membership register, ensure the integrity of membership records, enhance efficient access to membership data for planning and management decisions, promote internal democracy, and strengthen the party’s commitment to democratic innovation in Nigeria,” Morka said.

The party said Nigerians aged 18 and above who have valid National Identification Numbers are eligible to participate in the exercise.

The reopening of the registration comes as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 elections.

For the APC, which controls the Federal Government and several states, the exercise is expected to provide a clearer picture of its membership strength and improve its mobilisation efforts.

The electronic system is also expected to address problems associated with outdated, inaccurate or duplicated membership records under previous manual registration processes.

Existing APC members are therefore expected to confirm their personal details, while Nigerians seeking to join the ruling party will have the opportunity to register through the exercise.

The party subsequently called on its stakeholders and supporters nationwide to participate in the exercise and help strengthen its membership structure ahead of the 2027 elections.
