The Police Service Commission has announced the release of the names of 50,000 successful candidates recruited into the Nigeria Police Force as police constables.
The commission said the recruitment followed a nationwide exercise conducted in partnership with key stakeholders, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Federal Character Commission, the Ministry of Police Affairs, state career and counselling departments, and the Police Community Relations Committee.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the PSC’s Head of Protocol and Public Relations, Mr. Ikechukwu Ani (Torty Kalu), the commission directed candidates who participated in the recently concluded written examination to check their application status through the official recruitment portal, which opens on Thursday.
According to the statement, successful applicants will also receive notifications through the email addresses and telephone numbers they submitted during the application process.
“Candidates who participated in the recently concluded written examination are advised to log on to the official recruitment portal to confirm their recruitment status. Successful applicants will also receive email and SMS notifications,” the statement said.
The commission said shortlisted candidates would later be informed of the dates and venues for reporting to designated police training institutions, where they would undergo medical screening and documentation.
It warned that any candidate who fails to report within the stipulated period would be deemed to have declined the offer of appointment.
“The successful candidates are expected to report to their designated Police Training Institutions on dates and times to be communicated in due course for medical examination and documentation. Candidates who fail to report within the stipulated time will be considered to have declined the offer,” the commission stated.
The PSC further explained that candidates who fail the mandatory medical examination conducted by the police medical team upon resumption at the training schools would be disqualified from the programme.
“Those who fail the medical examination that will be conducted by the police medical team on resumption of training will be declared unfit and shall be required to leave the training,” the statement added.
The commission directed successful applicants to report with their training call-up slips, National Identification Number slips, Bank Verification Number slips, original and photocopies of their academic certificates, as well as other documents and items listed on the recruitment portal.
The recruitment is part of the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the personnel capacity of the Nigeria Police Force and enhance security across the country.
